Joint issues can be excruciatingly uncomfortable. To make it a little easier for you to find relief we’ve put MoveMD from 1MD under a microscope and analysed all of its best and worst features. Keep reading to find out what goes into MoveMD, the science behind the ingredients and if it will work to alleviate your joint discomfort.
How MoveMD works

MoveMD aims to promote flexibility and comfort in the movement of your joints. It does this with antioxidant and collagen rich ingredients that serve to cushion and lubricate joints, repair pre-existing damage and prevent future damage.
As a bonus, the ingredients in the supplement also work to improve brain health and boost energy levels.1MD even claims they’ve clinically proven that MoveMD will help to reduce joint discomfort in as little as 7-14 days!
For anyone suffering from joint pain, these are exactly the kind of results they’re looking for. Let’s take a bit of a further look into the doctor who recommends MoveMD and all of the ingredients included in this supplement.
Dr. Adam Kreitenberg Recommends MoveMD

Dr. Adam Kreitenberg is a rheumatologist situated in California, he’s been in the field for over 6 years. Rheumatologists treat joint diseases like arthritis, gout, lupus and more.
In his practice, Dr. Kreitenberg aims to use holistic but modern therapies that treat patients from the inside out. This is why he backs MoveMD, he believes the natural ingredients have been formulated effectively to boost joint health and decrease discomfort.
We weren’t able to find much more information about Dr. Adam Kreitenberg, but reviews from his patients seem to suggest he’s excellent at what he does.
Active Ingredients in MoveMD

Now that we know a little bit about the company and the product itself, let’s take a look at what ingredients actually make up MoveMD and why they help to promote good joint health.
AprèsFlex® Boswellia Serrata Extract 100mg

This is a patented and bio-enhanced form of boswellic acid. A more common name for Boswellia serrata extract is Indian Frankincense and it’s produced from the gum resin of the Boswellia serrata tree that grows in the mountains of India, Northern Africa and Middle East – particularly in drier areas.
This herb has been used for centuries in medicine treating a range of inflammatory diseases, some cancerous diseases, and promoting the healing of wounds through antimicrobial properties.
The acids in this extract inhibit the function and formation of inflammatory molecules in the body called leukotrienes.
The reasons behind this extract being chosen for this product are pretty clear, but specifically, Boswellia serrata has been shown to reduce pain and increase mobility for patients with osteoarthritis.
It has also been shown to assist with decreasing swelling of the joints on patients with rheumatoid arthritis – both of which are degenerative joint diseases. Generally, around 100-1000mg of the herb is recommended daily for joint health.
Summary: Indian frankincense is a highly researched ingredient with proven results for joint inflammation, making it a smart choice to include it in MoveMD’s formulation.
Zanthin® Natural Astaxanthin 2mg

Astaxanthin is one of Mother Nature’s most powerful antioxidants, which are molecules that fight free radicals in your body. Free radicals are constantly being formed in the body and can cause deterioration to your cells if they get out of hand, this is called oxidative stress.
However, your cells can also use free radicals to fight off some infections so it’s important to maintain balance. To ensure a good balance of free radicals and antioxidants in the body, you can consider supplementation.
It’s been suggested that the antioxidants in astaxanthin can help with the inflammation and pain that come from arthritis, however, results from studies have been mixed and more research is needed to determine if it’s truly effective.
The highest dosage of daily astaxanthin that a human can safely tolerate is around 6mg, so the 2mg dose included in this supplement is well within that limit and should be high enough to feel the benefits. You can also find this in high amounts in certain krill oil supplements.
Dr. Adam Kreitenberg advises on the 1MD website that Zanthin is a patented form of astaxanthin that has been clinically studied and proven to “outperform Glucosamine and Chondroitin at relieving joint discomfort and restoring joint mobility”.
Summary: Whether or not this ingredient will have a positive effect on joint health is yet to be determined. We do know that astaxanthin is a powerful anti-inflammatory and can protect your cells from damage so, regardless, it may benefit your overall health.
Type X.I.V. Eggshell Membrane Collagen 100mg

This ingredient is derived from the thin membrane coating the inside of an eggshell, it contains collagen but also glucosamine, chondroitin, hyaluronic acid, and calcium, which have all been known to assist with joint health.
Interestingly, each ingredient alone doesn’t work as effectively as they do when combined together from eggshell membrane collagen.
In a very encouraging study, patients who were all seeking relief from joint pain experienced an average 43% increase in flexibility, 72% decrease in pain, and a 75% decrease in pain associated with their range of movement.
In the studies, 500mg was administered daily, comparatively MoveMD only has 100mg but it is combined with other joint health ingredients.
Type II Chicken Collagen 280mg

This is another type of collagen that comes from chickens, as the name suggests, specifically it is generally extracted from their cartilage and bones. Collagen is said to have an anti-inflammatory effect on joints and may also help to rebuild cartilage.
When tested on dogs with osteoarthritis, it was shown that type II collagen was able to improve their mobility and their inflammation decreased significantly after 28 days of daily doses.
Another medical article suggests that this kind of collagen may also be a safer alternative for osteoarthritis treatment in both animals and humans than other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that are commonly used to treat the disease.
When just 10mg of type II collagen was administered daily in conjunction with acetaminophen (another common drug used to treat osteoarthritis) patients with the disease in a 2016 trial saw a significant improvement in joint pain and quality of life compared to those who were only using the acetaminophen.
Summary: The above research suggests that type II collagen could have a significant effect on joint health. This makes it a potentially valuable ingredient in MoveMD.
Hyaluronic Acid 25mg

You may have heard about using hyaluronic acid in your beauty regime to keep skin looking plump and hydrated because its main function is to retain water, however, when it comes to joint health its effects are just as positive.
Hyaluronic acid binds to water to create a thick, gooey substance that provides lubrication and cushioning between the joints. It also helps to promote the growth of new cells and tissues meaning it could help to regrow healthy cartilage that has previously thinned due to osteoarthritis.
Most commonly, hyaluronic acid is administered via injections for those who are suffering from osteoarthritis and haven’t responded well to other forms of treatment. The injections can sometimes be so effective that relief from symptoms can start within a few days and last around 6 months.
By supplementing with hyaluronic acid, you’ll be receiving the same benefits as injections but on a smaller and less targeted scale that can be, nonetheless, effective.
Summary: This review of oral supplementation, citing several successful clinical studies, suggests that hyaluronic acid provides safe treatment for those with mild knee pain caused by osteoarthritis.

This supplement is gluten-free, preservative-free and soy-free, however, it does contain eggs, whey (milk), and chicken collagen so it won’t be suitable for vegans or vegetarians.

What Customers Are Saying About MoveMD…
On Amazon, MoveMD has just over 100 ratings with a 3.5/5 star average. The reviews are fairly mixed, most of the negative reviewers remark that this product has done nothing for them, even after using it for 90 days.
However, positive reviewers seem to be experiencing all the positive effects that 1MD was intending this product to have.
This may suggest a quality control issue, or that the ingredients may not work the same way in everyone’s body. As there’s a good returns policy, this may be something that people are willing to try to see if they are going to be part of the majority that experiences relief for their joint pain.
Here’s a few of the main themes of the reviews:
- When the product was taken as directed, consistently and over a significant period of time some users saw no discernable results. Most negative reviewers who reported no results did not say that their symptoms got worse, although a few did report an increase in joint discomfort (possibly due to using a supplement with no positive effects for a prolonged period of time).
- Those who noticed results advised that this supplement helps in a number of areas where they experience joint pain such as their neck, back, fingers and knees.
- Users are very happy that it’s only one capsule a day, making it an easy supplement to consume consistently.
- Price of the product is mentioned in several positive reviews, described as “pricey” and “exorbitant”. Some users that experience great results are disappointed the product is more than their budget can allow them to continue using daily.
